Will David Hinds be charged by the Police?

Dear Editor,
Now that David Hinds, a senior candidate for the APNU/AFC coalition has made an open call for the destruction of the ballot boxes, “I repeat my proposal here. Scrap this election. Destroy those boxes.” Will he be charged by the police? There can be no clearer dog-whistle to the supporters letting them know in no uncertain terms the election has been lost and destruction of the votes is a goal. I would not even venture to analyse the diatribe for racism; to touch such filth leaves one feeling unclean for a very long time.

The Guyana Police Force has to perform, they may note that I never criticised their handling of the Bryan Mackintosh incident, all I ask is similar attention be paid to the writings of a columnist in a major newspaper as the ranting of a social commentator. Equality under the law is a principle that must be adhered to at all times.
