The beauty of Guyanese politics

The beauty of Guyanese politics

Dear Editor,

If this was many moons ago the masses would tell a tale of Guyanese politics that was very ugly indeed. Armed conflict, lack of patience and anger on both sides of the aisle. Today the political class of Guyana has shown a level of maturity and patience that even some of the observers have been left with their jaws dropped.

We are in a test match, and for those who love the game of cricket, this match is in the jungle. That’s correct, it’s another story of cricket in the jungle. The first year to gather the crowd make the bat & ball, shape the stumps & bails and pick the sides. Then the first ball was bowled and please do remember who’s batting and bowling while the trade winds blow across the country. After the ball was bowled the umpire has stepped in to make sure that it counts and the batsman has already packed up, yet waiting for the umpire’s call.

Yes Comrades, its cricket in the jungle and we just took a break for tea while the umpires make up their minds. It’s better to smile patiently than to pick up arms and fight over a game that has more than one innings. Out political class can make Guyana peaceful and beautiful again. It all comes down to how they decide to play the game.

Best regards,
Mr. Changlee
Chairman
