James Bond and the others in the PNC are not above the law

Dear Editor

There is now a growing trend in Guyana which is propagated by the PNC and this trend is to hold a protest anytime one of their members or executives or former office holders do something criminal or is alleged to have done something of a criminal nature. These protests are not only illegal but progress into violence and mayhem with great alacrity. This trend started immediately upon the arrest and continued through the trial so far. And it is now clear that there is no dearth of such criminal acts; so far the media is replete with the many corrupt and criminal deals involving state lands and other properties. According to genuine sources, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Immediately, the arrests of the Returning Officer for Region 4, Mingo and the CEO, Lowenfield come to mind. These men and some of their confederates attempted to rig the 2020 in full view of the world and in front of the media and yet their supporters barefacedly hold violent protests in various parts of the country in an attempt to frustrate and thwart the course of justice. The National Recount proved beyond any doubt that Mingo’s numbers for Region 4 were indeed fraudulent and Volda Lawrence supported this fraud by appending her signature to the fraudulent documentation. It must be recalled that Mingo produced and then reproduced these ‘magical’ numbers in favor of the Coalition not once but twice. He received an epiphany when he ‘took ill’ and had to be wheel chaired out of the Ashmin’s Center.

Upon his return he produced the fraudulent results of his epiphany. It must be recalled that Lowenfield used the fraudulent figures for region 4 declared by Mingo to make his first report and thereafter he continued to do so even after the national recount rejected Mingo’s numbers and he was directed by the Court and the Chairperson of GECOM to produce his report based on the recount. The ‘epiphany’ had manifested from Congress Place!

The violent protests began at Belladrum on the West Coast of Berbice and wreaked havoc on those persons who were perceived to be PPP/C supporters. They were robbed and beaten and soon the same situation prevailed in other areas along the West Coast of Berbice. Granger and Harmon’s hooligans were at work to bully our justice system; in fact, Harmon openly supported these protests when he said that, “I have said to Mingo and the people of Belladrum from whence he came, I spoke to his wife and brother…that we are fully supporting the village and will not allow our supporters, for that matter our Guyanese people to be abused, their rights violated under the direction of this fraudulent government”. This is an admission by Harmon that Mingo is indeed a die-hard PNC supporter who did act impartially and that the PNC instigated the violent protests which followed.

Today it is reported that James Bond’s PNC supporters led by another alleged fraudster, Volda Lawrence, held candlelight vigils outside Brickdam Police Station in an effort to influence the outcome of police investigations into several land lease transactions in which it is alleged that he illegally profited from tens of millions of dollars. The calls to “free James Bond now” clearly indicate that the PNC and its supporters do not want our justice system to function. Ms. Volda Lawrence should know that in any investigation the GPF has the legal right to detain a suspected criminal for 72 hours, and James Bond and the others in the PNC are not above the law. Once the GPF concluded their investigations and based on evidences produced then the accused is charged after advice from the DPP is sought. But as usual the PNC and its band of bullies feel that they could suppress the justice system and coerced it to work in their favor.

During its tenure in Office the Coalition has proven beyond all reasonable doubts that they are incapable to govern this country in the best interest of the Guyanese people. They looted and squandered and propelled corruption to new and unprecedented heights. But they have proven that they are allergic to the words ‘progress and development’.
The PNC has the ingenuity to rapidly descend to new lows anytime you feel that they have arrived at the nadir of their nefarious and villainous propensity.

Yours truly,
H. Yusuf
