Guyana, EU to share experiences in natural resources management

In an effort to strengthen strategic partnerships and build alliances, the European Union Ambassador, Fernando Ponz Cantó, recently paid a courtesy call on Natural Resources Minister, Vickram Bharrat.

The meeting which served as an introduction to Minister Bharrat’s recent appointment, discussed several areas of cooperation which included but were not limited to EU-FLEGT expertise for Guyana’s forest products to gain access to EU markets and possible best practices for Guyana’s Sovereign Wealth Fund.
“Further, in the area of climate change, Ambassador Cantó commended Guyana for maintaining their support to the Paris Agreement which plays an important role in mitigating the global effects of climate change,” according to a statement issued yesterday by the Natural Resources Ministry. In moving forward, Minister Bharrat and Ambassador expressed a commitment to work closely together in the field of technical training, capacity building and shared experiences in Natural Resources Management.
