Granger should do the right thing and concede now, not wait on GECOM’s declaration

On Thursday, the media reported that Mr Granger said he will respect any decision of GECOM without condition. He had said that before but did not seem sincere. So, if he is now a man of his word, what is he waiting on to concede. If GECOM and all the courts say only the recount data can be used to make the declaration, that means Granger lost to the PPP by 15,000 votes and should concede now, and step aside. Dr Irfaan Ali is deemed to be the President-in-waiting since March 2, and nothing will change that. So why is Mr Granger stalling? What is he waiting for? He cannot say he would accept the decision of GECOM then let his people sue to block the declaration by GECOM. Everyone knows they have lost whether the declaration has been made or not. Any leader with honesty, integrity, and decency would have conceded since the recount was completed. Mr Granger seems to be mostly hiding and comes up for air now and again, while his operatives frustrate the will of the people and engage in activities that sink their reputation deeper and deeper. Many think Mr Granger is the intellectual author of the current impasse.

Mr Granger had said he would respect the result of the recount under the Caricom observation team he invited, but Mr Granger did not keep his word. Instead, his own candidate and PNC attorney filed an action to stop the recount he ordered. He said he would respect the declaration from GECOM, and when GECOM said the declaration was based on the recount, Mr Granger’s people filed a court action against using the recount results, and are still fighting to have the Mingo/Lowenfield fraudulent results used for a declaration. Mr Granger’s side has filed so many vexatious, frivolous lawsuits, they were pretty much bitch-slapped again by the three Court of Appeal Judges who each gave blistering rebuke of abuse of the court process in relitigating matters that have already been decided. If Mr Granger’s party chooses to appeal the COA’s decision to the CCJ, then they have no shame as the CCJ already said only the recount results can be used. The PNC must be gluttons for punishment and international embarrassment.

It is time for Mr Granger’s party to tell their people that they lost fairly and that in truth and in fact there was no hanky panky voting by the dead and migrated. This is plain, unbridled dishonesty. If the PNC loves to go to the court so much, why don’t they want to go to an election petition? That will keep them at least five years in court as they sift out how 115,000 to 200,000 people dead and migrated people voted fraudulently. If they like court so much, why are they waiting? Concede and file the election petition so you can enjoy your long time in court.

On Thursday, Michael Kozak, of the US State Department announced more sanctions to prevent additional senior individuals from Guyana, responsible for or complicit in undermining democracy in Guyana, from entering the United States. I hope they include on the list those pretend church “bishops” and “apostles” who cheerlead and pray for the rigging to succeed. I am willing to suggest a list, but I fear this may ensnare some of my Assembly of God and Full Gospel Fellowship friends. According to Mr Kozak, “The Secretary’s been clear: The Granger Administration and its allies continue to defy the will of the Guyanese people by refusing to accept the vote count. The count has been certified as valid by international observers OAS and Caricom, Guyana’s and the Caribbean’s highest courts…The United States joins the rest of the region refusing to go along with this farce. We will continue to act until the Granger Administration accepts the will of Guyanese voters.”

Similarly, the OAS boss, Mr Almagro said, “the right of appeal is a privilege that should not be abused – especially in deferring the will of the people.” He said the appeal of the Chief Justice’s ruling validating the recount was frivolous and vexatious, adding that “Guyana has spoken. GECOM must declare results based on the recount.”
Mr Granger must take his knee off the necks of the Guyanese people and let the nation breath again under a new Government. Concede now! The PPP won fairly!
