Fishing to ‘spice up’ Tourism Month activities

THE Region 10 Tourism Committee, as part of its Tourism Awareness Month’s programme of activities, has added a new feature to ‘liven up’ the occasion.
The Region 10 Fishing Exploration has allowed game and recreational fishing in Guyana’s three main rivers for three days.

According to a release, the venues at reference are Linden, on the Demerara River, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020; Rockstone, on the Essequibo River, on Thursday, November 19, 2020; and Kwakwani, on the Berbice River, on Friday, November 20, 2020.

The events, the release says, will be held in accordance to strict COVID-19 guidelines, and while the provision of accommodation and transportation are optional, registration costs $2,000 per participant.

“Participants,” the organisers say, “are encouraged to walk with their own fishing and storage resources. Trophies will be awarded to the largest, smallest, and most daily catches. Cast nets are prohibited.”
