COVID-19 Task Force is political arm of APNU/AFC

Dear Editor,
The caretaker APNU/AFC Government, through its political arm, the National COVID-19 Task Force, led by its CEO Joseph Harmon, continues to use its power for evil, and not for the good of the people.

The Task Force and the APNU/AFC Administration have consistently denied the Carter Center Observer Mission permission to re-enter Guyana to observe the ongoing recount of the votes case on March 02,2020. These actions propelled the People’s Progressive Party supporters to take to the streets. During that picketing exercise, two PPP supporters were held and brought before the court to answer charges. these are charges that should be condemned, while several others were placed on station bail.

I believe strongly in the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. The attempt was to strip our citizens of the basic freedoms of speech and assembly and the right to peaceful protest, with the corresponding and equal responsibility. It is disappointing that we find ourselves in such a place when the most important event is happening in Guyana — our recount of the votes cast in the elections of March 2,2020.

Joseph Harmon and the APNU/AFC continue to maliciously attack GECOM’s integrity and the integrity of thousands of Guyanese who worked so hard and honestly to deliver a free and fair election on E-Day, which was certified by all the accredited local and international observers.

There are continuous hostilities levelled on GECOM by Joseph Harmon and the APNU cabal with their daily accusations, and they have since fabricated a new dimension to the coalition’s version of events, lying to say that there are many counterfoil ballots appearing in the ballot boxes.

Dear Editor, who are these people? As they continue to make irresponsible, baseless accusations, attacking the character and reputation of those Guyanese who worked and voted for the party of their choice on March 02,2020, Forbes Burnham must be rolling in his grave to see what his rigging legacy turned out to be in 2020. And he must be saying, “Look at what this pack of APNU/AFC riggers are doing to my dear land of Guyana.”

APNU is working overtime to convince the Disciplined Services that their votes were not counted, and has ordered the National COVID-19 Task Force to test more people and to report false positives, to build a narrative of a serious outbreak in Guyana. The Chinese Army advisors will be invited to Guyana as medical teams and logistical support systems. Their plan is set to be triggered in motion very soon by a sudden upsurge in positive COVID-19 tests.

How can the David Granger-led Caretaker Government disrespect the Guyanese people; disrespect our Constitution; intimidate our people; disrespect our courts; try to hijack our electoral process; allow his cabal to rig the March 02, 2020 elections; abuse our taxpayers’ dollars to enrich the lives of his former ministers, their families and friends — families and cronies at the expense of the Guyanese citizens; refuse to have Carter Center return to Guyana to observe the recount? It is unacceptable to the people of Guyana!

Do these members of the APNU/AFC leadership have conscience? How can they face the people of Guyana every day, knowing that they have deceived them by doing these many wrong things?
