Consequences for poor job performances

Sometime ago, a former Finance Minister wrote a letter in his defense (somewhat) of the land deals that he signed off on (approved) which clearly were not in Guyana’s financial economic interest.
I believe the wording in the letter included a statement like this- “…to the best of my ability”.
It appears that prior to the disposal of lands, to external entities, there were processes/procedures/guidelines in place to be undertaken first, (written in English) yet, it seems these were bypassed.

If software developers working for the various well-known social media platforms that so many people spend so much time on, ever came close to uttering this kind of a statement, much less writing such a statement for the public to read, these social media platforms would not exist. The bosses would have found a way to get rid of the developers.

Such acts of contempt and callous disregard with the disposal of land, in spite of existing guidelines, which resulted in financial loss should not be given a free pass.
An unacceptable poor excuse in the real world. If there are no guidelines to perform certain tasks, one can accept such an excuse, but just barely, especially if there are financial losses.
There have to be consequences for this kind of poor job performance, if the rest of the world is to take Guyana seriously.
