Brazilian Navy visits Chief of Staff

CHIEF-of-STAFF, Brigadier Godfrey Bess, and other senior officers, recently received a Brazilian Navy contingent during a courtesy call at the Conference Room, Defence Headquarters.
The team arrived on two patrol vessels of the Brazilian Navy, the MACAU and BOICANA which were docked at the Guyana Coast Guard Ship Hinds Wharf, Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The visit forms part of OPERATION CARIBEX 2020, an annual Operation conducted by the Brazilian Navy which sends a task force to navigate Caribbean waters and to visit ports of friendly nations.

The team was escorted by Brazilian Military Attache, Colonel Marcelo Ambrosio. Naval Captain, Alexandre Gildes Borges, is commanding the voyage.
In brief remarks, Brigadier Bess noted that, over the years, co-operation between the two militaries, particularly with CARIBEX, has resulted in a number of valuable opportunities for developing and building capacity for officers and ratings of the Coast Guard. Naval Captain, Alexandre Gildes Borges, thanked the GDF for its continued co-operation and support.
