$75 million to be spent on ‘Christmas cleaning’

THE Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development will be spending approximately $75 million to clean-up the country for the Christmas season.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall, on Monday, during an interview with the Guyana Chronicle.

Minister Dharamlall explained that apart from the initiatives of central government and City Hall, the government will also use the money to rehabilitate local infrastructure.

“Right now we are going to be spending quite a lot of monies on cleaning up the country for Christmas and rehabilitating local infrastructure, including in the City of Georgetown…we are going to be spending, across the country, $75M,” the Minister explained.

He urged citizens to play their part in the execution of the initiative and to assist in whatever way they can.

“We would like the residents to come on board and give us their full support and let them be part of the sustainability of this effort,” Minister Dharamlall said.
